pentagram

copywriting · copy editing · research

My time as Pentagram’s in-house writer and editor was a career highlight. Founded in 1972, the company is arguably the most iconic design firm in the world. While part of my job was to be the on-call writer, editor, researcher, and proofreader for a long list of illustrious clients, the other part was to help document and promote the company’s work.

Through projects ranging from blogs and books to the company’s annual holiday card, I was granted an insider-only view of the design process that instilled in me a deep respect for good design. It’s also where I learned the secret to continuous improvement. To this day, I still ask myself these three questions at the end of every project: What went right? What went wrong? What can be done better next time?
